6 Rapidly Funded Kickstarter Projects – Bi-Weekly Roundup

This article was written by Krystine Therriault. You can find her on twitter here.

This week’s rapidly funded Kickstarter projects include a variety of campaigns in different categories including technology, design, gaming, and more! Each of these crowdfunding campaigns have met (and exceeded) their goal within the first week after launching, and still have plenty of time remaining until their Kickstarter campaigns end. My favorite is number 6!

#1. Noke: The World’s First Bluetooth Padlock

noke

Creators: FŪZ Designs
Amount Funded: $347,242
Number of Backers: 3,376
Average Pledge per Backer: $103
Duration: August 18th to September 17th (30 days)

The Noke is a lock that uses a Bluetooth app for IOS and Android, instead of keys. This ingenious product by FŪZ Designs allows you to unlock the padlock by having your Bluetooth activated smartphone nearby – you don’t even have to have it right out with you. By pressing the lock the Noke automatically looks for a compatible phone nearby.

You can also use the app to grant other people access to your lock, on a one-time or varying basis, instead of having to risk giving away keys that might be lost or misused.

What if you forget your phone or it dies? The device comes with a programmable click code that can give you access if your phone isn’t available, and also come with an optional cable and bike mount.

#2. Mount Anything Anywhere -Neutron A and Neutron S

mount anything kickstarter

Creators: Ananda Svarupa Das
Amount Funded: $41,521
Number of Backers: 785
Average Pledge per Backer: $53
Duration: August 20th to September 15th (26 days)

The Neutron A and Neutron S are devices that allow you to mount your smart phone, iPad or Tablet (or whatever else you can think of) anywhere. The Neutron S is a small square mount, and the Neutron A is a mount designed to fit on a car dash.

Also, “Each Neutron S and Neutron A is magnetically shielded. This means that practically no magnetic field will enter into you device, which makes Neutron S the most advanced mounting system available anywhere.”

This means you can mount your phone or tablet without worrying about damage from magnetic fields. Both are available in deep space grey or silver, and interchangeable color pads can be added for an additional $5. All you have to do is attach a thin disk with 3M tape to your device to mount it to whatever you want!

#3. HOTLINE MIAMI- JACKET FIGURE

HOTLINE MIAMI- JACKET FIGURE kickstarter

Creators: Erick Scarecrow
Amount Funded: $95,480
Number of Backers: 1,033
Average Pledge per Backer: $92
Duration: August 18th to September 20th (33 Days)

Hotline Miami is an action game where you play an anti-hero “on a murderous rampage against the shady underworld at the behest of voices on your answering machine,” in an alternative conception of 1989 Miami. Fans of the game can now pledge to support the creation of the “First ever 1/6 scale “12 inch” Hotline Miami Jacket articulated figure by Dennaton, Devolver Digital and esctoy.com.” This figure is being offered with interchangeable masks and weapons, and one reward level offers backers a figure signed by Dennaton.

#4. Slap .45

slap kickstarter

Creators: Gnarwhal Studios
Amount Funded: $53,144
Number of Backers: 1,413
Average Pledge per Backer: $38

Duration: August 18th to September 17th (30 days)
Slap .45 is a tabletop card game for 3 to 7 players that “captures the feeling of a classic Western shootout.” In just four days they have raised $47,255, which is more than $29k over their original funding goal.

What surprised me about this project was its simplicity; for example, the creators are only offering one reward level. This is a copy of the game, which comes with 67 shootout cards, 42 mini gang cards (for 7 gangs), 7 gang home bases, and a custom box and rules. The creators of this game have been working on it for a while, assuring those who watch their video that this game inspires lively play and that those who try it want to play again.

#5. Own a Flat Screen TV? MantelMount is for YOU!

MantelMount kickstarter

Creators: Dan Hughes
Amount Funded: $84,528
Number of Backers: 347
Average Pledge per Backer: $244
Duration: August 18th to September 17th

MantleMount is a wall mount for flat screen TVs that is easy to install, allows you to pull your TV away from the wall, swivel it and adjust it to eye level. The MantleMount also comes with covers that can be painted any color and allow you to hide wires and hardware!

Brian Hughes designed this product after his family experienced the inconvenience and expensiveness of traditional wall mounts and would like to expand the business to provide an affordable, convenient wall mounting option to consumers everywhere.

I thought this pledge level was funny: if you pledge $19 or more, “You’ll receive a personalized thank you note from Brian as well as a photo of Brian leaving his day job (Brian can quit his day job if we reach our stretch goal of $500K!)”

#6. Calamityware dinner plate 4

Calamityware dinner plate 4 kickstarter

Creators: Don Moyer
Amount Funded: $50,541
Number of Backers: 915
Average Pledge per Backer: $55
Duration: August 14th to September 14th (31 days)

Don Moyer loves drawing, and explains on his Kickstarter page: “When I inherited a traditional Blue Willow-pattern plate, I just had to redraw it and add a pterodactyl. As I drew more plates and added more calamities—UFOs, Sasquatch, and volcanoes—folks urged me to produce real dinner plates. A Kickstarter project was born.” This project is his third dinner plate Kickstarter campaign – this one features a fleet of UFOs. These plates are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe and are likely to make interesting talking pieces for those who like their dinnerware to be a little unorthodox.

Conclusion

This rapidly funded Kickstarter projects list included the an interesting array of projects, underscoring what makes Kickstarter so fun. I look forward to seeing how much more attention these projects will receive after their early success.
