This rapidly funded list includes five new Kickstarter projects that have been launched since August 4 2015. In under a week these projects managed to get their campaigns fully funded – one project, Numenera: Into the Ninth World, raised its $20,000 goal in an hour and has gone on to raise over $121K!
The categories included in this week’s post are graphic novels, playing cards, tabletop games, 3D printing and gadgets. Many of these creators have used innovative ways to market their campaigns and still have weeks left to go, so if you’re interested be sure to check them out and back while rewards are available!
#1. BRIAN PULIDO’S NEW LADY DEATH GRAPHIC NOVEL: DAMNATION GAME!
Amount Funded: $50K+
Number of Backers: 538+
Average Pledge per Backer: $95
Duration: August 5 – September 4 (30 days)
Damnation Game is Brian Pulido’s second successful Kickstarter campaign in the Lady Death series.
The team describes Lady Death as a “supernatural, sword-wielding anti-hero who battles evil. Once she was Hope, a teenaged girl who is deceived by demons in an effort to save her mother’s soul in Hell. She renounces her mortality for eternal life in Hell. To ensure her survival, she turns to the darkness within herself and begins a transformation into Lady Death.”
In their campaign video the team says that the creative work for this project is finished – all they need is help to get it printed. This project offers a long list of cool rewards for backers to choose from.
#2. TEXAS – Luxury playing cards designed by Jackson Robinson
Amount Funded: $43K+
Number of Backers: 480+
Average Pledge per Backer: $90
Duration: August 8 – September 7 (30 days)
In my experience there aren’t many Kickstarter campaigns who nearly double their original goal and raise over $40K in three days without a video – but Jackson Robinson is an exception.
With over fifteen Kickstarter campaigns under his belt, Robinson knows how to design and produce quality card decks that both players and collectors will love. This campaign is a tribute to the creator’s love for the State of Texas, and comes in four editions: premium, gold, legacy, and player’s.
For a limited time backers can pledge $15 for one Premium Edition of Texas Playing Cards, $35 for one Gold Edition of Texas Playing Cards, and more.
#3. BedJet v2: Sleep inducing climate control just for your Bed
Amount Funded: $147K+
Number of Backers: 469+
Average Pledge per Backer: $315
Duration: August 5 – September 12 (39 days)
A product that got its start on Kickstarter has now come back for more. BedJet v2 has now been “upgraded with biorhythm temperature technology to help you get to sleep faster and stay asleep longer … by hacking into your body’s natural biorhythm wake triggers, to wake you up gently and incredibly refreshed.”
The BedJet system is easily controlled via an Android or iPhone app, and even allows you and your partner to reach perfect sleep temperatures on each side of the bed. Backers can currently pledge as little as $199 for the super early bird BedJet, $699 for BedJet Dual Zone Bundles (saving marriages!), and more.
#4. Numenera: Into the Ninth World
Amount Funded: $121K+
Number of Backers: 1.1K+
Average Pledge per Backer: $110
Duration: August 5 – September 9 (36 days)
Numenera: Into the Ninth World is Monte Cook Games’ sixth Kickstarter campaign. This project was launched to fund Into the Night, Into the Deep, and Into the Outside, each an all-new 160-page hardcover supplement, along with the 100-card Numenera Artifact Deck.
These new additions will allow backers to “go beyond the boundaries of the fantastic, award-winning Numenera setting.” Set over a billion years in the future, the Ninth World is a place of beauty, wonder, danger, and weirdness.
Monte Cook Games has even added achievements to their campaign to help spread the word and improve rewards (3, 5, or 10 blog posts, 10, 25, 50 or 100 Facebook shares, and more!).
#5. Morpheus 3D Printer : A Whole New 3D Printing Experience
Amount Funded: $124K+
Number of Backers: 59+
Average Pledge per Backer: $2110
Duration: August 4 – August 24 (28 days)
The new Morpheus 3D Printer is a resin 3D printer that offers a whole new experience in 3D printing. With a large build volume and faster printing than most high-end 3D printers currently on the market, it is no wonder that this reasonably priced alternative has had such quick Kickstarter success. Morpheus’ build platform is 13.0” X 7.1”, with a height of 11.8”.
The group at TEAM OWL WORKS is using LIPS (light induced planar solidification) technology for this project as a way to cure photo polymer. Currently backers can get one Morpheus 3D printer for $3,999 or more, but rewards are limited!
Conclusion
Seeing the diversity of projects on Kickstarter can be an interesting way to learn about all of the different styles and strategies used by creators.
For example, some of these campaigns have high average pledges and low backer numbers (like the Morpheus 3D printer with 59 backers and an average pledge of $2110) or lower average pledges with a lot of backers (Lady Death has an average pledge of $95 but over 500 backers).
Whether they are making improvements on old ideas or coming up with new games or stories to excite us, these campaigns have managed to draw in backers and get people excited to see their projects succeed and come to life.
