5 Successful Equity Crowdfunding Startups on Indiegogo

Indiegogo teamed up with MicroVentures in November 2016 to bring equity crowdfunding to its users.

On January 24 2017, Indiegogo announced that since they launched equity crowdfundingon their portal called First Democracy VC, their first five offering companies have raised a combined total of approximately $1.4 million from Indiegogo’s community of backers.

If that’s not enough, Indiegogo and MicroVentures have just launched a second batch of offerings! Let’s take a look at the startups who have successfully used equity crowdfunding on Indiegogo so far, and learn a little about these exciting new offerings.

1. Texas Ζebo

Category: Restaurant & Beverage

Goal: $100K – $500K

Funding raised: $123,575

The Texas Ζebo team manages two restaurants: Halcyon Coffee + Bar + Lounge and Stella Public House. Halcyon is a dynamic space that makes a comfy coffee house during the day and a laid-back bar at night. These two locations averaged $2.3 million in revenue in 2015, and now the team has secured leases to open two new locations.

2. ArtCraft Entertainment

ArtCraft Entertainment is using equity crowdfunding for their new Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, or MMORPG, Crowfall. 5. BeatStars

2. The Grilled Cheese Truck

The Grilled Cheese Truck is a food truck that sells, you guessed it, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. After having success with their initial food trucks, Big Cheese Inc. wants to expand domestically and internationally with “micro-stores”, “pop-ups”, and more food trucks. So far, their seasonal and innovative grilled cheese creations have earned them spots on several “Best of” lists.

Conclusion.

In only two months, Indiegogo has already shown that they can be a strong contender in the equity crowdfunding marketplace. They have already helped five startups reach their funding goals, with two new offerings that just launched this week. Three of the offerings featured in this post are still open to investors.
