If there’s one thing that I want you to take away from this podcast episode, it’s this…
“The thing you spend the MOST time thinking about is usually where your natural inclinations lie.”
If you spend your time thinking about how things works, how users interact with products, or what things are made out of, you’re probably interested in engineering or design. That’s an engineering mindset.
If you spend your time thinking about how other people perceive products or what gets people to say yes to buying a product, you’re likely a fan of psychology and marketing. That’s a marketer’s mindset.
Every entrepreneur gravitates towards a particular mindset.
Steve Jobs leaned towards design. Elon Musk or Bill Gates have a stronger engineering mindset. Donald Trump appears to have a marketer’s or salesman’s mindset. He understands how to incite emotion and manage perceptions (whether positively or negatively).
When you identify your natural talents and mindset, you’ll be able to figure out which type of business is best for you.
“Just because you can make money at something, doesn’t mean that you should do it.”
It took me a long time to figure out what my natural center of gravity is, but once I did, I started to see more success in my career and business.
In this podcast episode, I’m going to share some of the business failures that I’ve had thus far in my career and what I’ve learned from them!
Keith Allen asked me this question as part of the Ask Sal segment. He’s preparing for an upcoming Kickstarter campaign was worrying about how it’s going to go. He asked me if I’ve ever had any failures in my career.
Haha! Yes, I have. Hope you enjoy the episode.
“Happiness comes from doing something that you enjoy and longterm success comes from happiness.”
