Do you want to launch a successful Kickstarter campaign?
I’m not talking about just hitting your goal, but also surpassing it!
There are crystal clear do’s and don’ts if you want to raise funds with crowdfunding. If you do the right things, you’ll do well. If you don’t, your campaign will sputter out.
I would never judge what you’re raising money for (to be honest – I’m surprised customers like some of the products out there).
My only goal is to give you the tools that you need to gather a crowd, market your project, and if people like it, get funding.
The video below will get you quickly acquainted with the best practices when it comes to a Kickstarter campaign.
You’ve just learned a valuable lesson! Don’t stop now. Use this knowledge and apply it to your project today.
No matter whether you’re in the pre-launch phase or currently live on Kickstarter, this tips can completely transform your fundraiser.
Business is about one thing: the customer. Right?
You gotta make a product, book, board game, or film that the customer loves. That’s what they tell you, correct?
I think we’ve been led astray. While yes, the project is important, what’s more important is the education and mindset that the team behind the project has access to.
Let me explain…
Your results rest on your training
There’s a great quote by Archilochus that is frequently cited by Navy Seal instructors. It says, “We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.”
If you know anything about business, you’ll know that rarely do entrepreneurs “get it right” the first time around. Usually, they have to tweak their product, messaging, and marketing before customers “are totally on board” and love the project.
I can’t tell you the number of guests that I’ve had on my podcast that have shared how they thought one reward tier would be popular, but another ended up getting all the pledges. Others talk about how every one of their backers asked a question they didn’t anticipate.
These revelations led them to change up their marketing, pricing, reward tiers, or core product promises.
The #1 most profitable and impactful thing that you can do when it comes to getting backers, pledges, and funding is to educate yourself.
Even if you decide to hire an agency or promotion company, your results ultimately will rest on your understanding of marketing, crowdfunding, and the Kickstarter platform.
You’re going to be pulling all the different levers behind the scenes, and it helps to know what they actually do (or if you’re paying attention to the wrong ones).
Words matter less than behavior
As an author and speaker, this is kind of funny for me to say to you right now, but it’s true!
Words are great. They give us some indication of how people are feeling or what they’re thinking. We can use words to form effective copywriting and marketing communications.
At the same time, they are worthless.
It’s very common for an entrepreneur to complain how they “had all these orders,” but when the campaign actually launched, they didn’t get any backers.
As entrepreneurs, we need to pay more attention to people’s actions than their words. Actions are what result in pledges, and at the end of the day, sales!
Actions are grounded in reality. Thoughts and feelings are simply electrical signals that happen in your head that have yet to be transformed into action.
By measuring the behavior of your potential customers, you’ll have a clearer idea of what kind of backing levels you can expect within you first week and beyond.
Don’t shoot yourself in the foot
You can be doing everything right, but if you make some of the costly mistakes that I mention in the video, you’ll be basically shooting yourself in the foot.
Mistakes can literally ruin a crowdfunding campaign and make it impossible to raise funds. They will zap you of your marketing funds, energy, and leave your spirit crushed.
Why make this process hard on yourself? It’s already hard enough as it is. Spending 10 minutes to figure out some of these mistakes is well worth your time!
I don’t want you to turn into one of the hopeful entrepreneurs that sends me an email, pleading me to help them in the last few days of their campaign.
There’s not much that I or anyone else can do at that point in time. Unfortunately, that’s also when the sting of mistakes hurt the most and regret begins to seep in.
When you watch this video, you’ll see what I’m talking about. I’ll also spell out the pitfalls to be aware of so that you don’t fall into the same trap that others have.
Once you finish it, take a sec to tell me a little bit about your project. If ya want more videos like this one, then subscribe to the channel and give the video a thumbs up!
