Starting an online business really doesn’t have to be hard. Here’s why…

Just decide which “bucket” you wanna play in

I go way more in-depth into this in the video, but basically, you gotta decide which bucket you wanna play in.

Do you want to be an educator? An entertainer? Do you want to create physical products? Do you want to provide services?

Your business can be rolled out in multiple stages, but you have to start somewhere.

This decision is going to influence all of your choices going forward. An ecommerce business is very different from an info-product business. Being an entertaining YouTube personality is totally different from being an educator or thought expert.

Your method of acquiring customers is gonna be totally different from bucket to bucket. The same is true of how you spend your ad budget, the lifetime value of the customer, and the profitability of your product.

This is the BEST bucket…

The best bucket for you to play in is going to vary depending on your emotional temperament and what you’re good at.

However, personally, I think that starting a blog is literally the best thing that you can do in the early stages. A blog is a source of free traffic and a way to establish yourself as a thought-leader in your industry.

You could be selling:

  • Coaching and consulting services
  • Physical products
  • Training courses
  • Real estate
  • High-ticket software packages.
  • Etc.

It doesn’t matter – a blog is an incredible way for your customers to discover you, to build rapport and warm up cold leads, and of course, to be able to direct a river of traffic to new products, events, and services.

If you want to start YOURS, then just follow my step-by-step tutorial here.

Decide how you’ll find your customers

Now, if you don’t want to start a blog, then you’ll have to figure out how to find your customers. There are many ways that you can do this, including:

  • Facebook ads
  • Google ads
  • PR and public relations campaign
  • Podcasts
  • Creating YouTube videos
  • Etc.

You have to decide if you wanna spend money or you wanna spend time to generate leads which then turn into sales.

If you want to spend money, then you should look into paid advertising sources like Facebook, Google, Private Ads, promotions, etc.

For those that are willing to invest a bit of time into creating content (think content marketing) then you have other outlets at your disposal. You can do things like start a podcast, start a YouTube channel, create free ebooks and guides, etc.

By it’s very definition, every business has customers. If it doesn’t, then it’s not a business. You need customers who are willing to pay you for the value that you offer to the world.

The real reason everyone fails

Okay – I admit it. If you were spend lots of time, you could eventually figure out how to build your own business.

Listen to enough of my podcast episodes or watch enough of my YouTube videos, and you’ll have some semblance of what you gotta do. Granted, you’ll speed up the process a lot with a coaching or training session.

The real reason that everyone fails has NOTHING to do with their access to education or their financial resources. Instead, it comes down to two things:

  1. Their determination
  2. Their team

You will only go as far as your determination. If you aren’t hungry, then you’re not gonna get very far in the business world. There are always going to be people who will out-work and out-perform you.

The people at the top aren’t the smartest. In fact, many of them are kinda dumb. All they do is PERSIST and TAKE RISKS when other people aren’t willing to. They also surround themselves with smart and talented people.

I can share with you how to start an online business, but you gotta take the next steps going forward!
