Review of CauseVox’s Fundraising Platform

CauseVox is a crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising platform where you can easily create a fundraising website for your nonprofit or social good project.

After putting together a fundraising platform for their own projects, the CauseVox team decided to help the world raise money online and really make a difference. So far they have helped thousands of groups raise millions of dollars!

“We help others flourish — by playing a part in ending poverty, fighting disease, promoting education, and every cause whose mission is to make this world a better place to live,” their mantra says, “We do this by designing, creating, and innovating the easiest and most useful tools for anyone, anywhere, anytime to raise the funds they need for scaling their social impact.”

Want to know if CauseVox is the right fundraising platform for you? This post will help you learn more about CauseVox’s many useful features and highlight some reviews from past users:

Run a Nonprofit Crowdfunding Campaign

CauseVox gives individuals and charities all the tools they need to run an effective campaign. Creators can set donation tiers that show backers the impact of their contributions (for example, a $30 contribution sends two kids to school).

Social media sharing is just a click away, making it effortless for friends and supporters to share your CauseVox campaign to their social networks. Donors can interact and leave comments on fundraising pages and creators can post updates with the platform’s blogging tools.

I’ve put together a new GUIDE that’s packed with science-backed nonprofit fundraising methods, resources, strategies, and killer marketing methods.

Manage Your Fundraising Site

CauseVox provides creators with powerful tools to manage your fundraiser in one place. The CauseVox dashboard gives real-time updates on site activity, lets you manage team members, post updates, track donations, provide donation receipts, and more.

Design your own fundraising site without the help of a developer. CauseVox’s simple site editor also makes it easy to upload your logo, edit your content, and change colors and background images. More experienced users can take advantage of JavaScript hooks and CSS placement.

Personal and Team Fundraising Pages

On CauseVox, supporters can create their own pages to raise money on your behalf. This can help you introduce your cause to a wider audience and bring in more pledges. Also, people are more comfortable with donating when they see that a person’s page is affiliated with the charity they want to donate to.

Fundraisers can blog about their own personal stories, bringing a human interest element to your campaign by giving people a chance to share how their own personal lives have been affected by your cause.

Donation Processing

CauseVox allows you to take online donations without any merchant account applications or setup fees. The platform is integrated with leading transaction processors so funds are deposited right into your account. Receipts are sent out automatically, and you can even input donations that you received offline.

A recent addition to the site, CauseVox now has an option for recurring monthly donations (with Stripe) to help you maximize your support. Plus, the donation form works on all mobile devices, making it easy for anyone to donate.

Widgets and API

CauseVox can provide you with fundraising widgets that you can use on any website (with only a few lines of code)! Their API is developer friendly, so you can even create custom widgets.

Pricing

CauseVox offers three flexible, month-by-month plans:

  1. Starter Plan: $0 per month, 5% transaction fee (2.5% until the end of 2015), one fundraising site and basic technical support
  2. Impact Plan: $49 per month, 4.25% transaction fee, unlimited fundraising sites (including personal and team fundraising), custom donation receipts and priority technical support.
  3. Pro Plan: $129 per month, 4% transaction fee, all of the same perks as the Impact Plan with a higher monthly fee and lower transaction fees (a good option if you are planning on raising a large amount of funds in a short amount of time)

There are also highly discounted yearly plans with no monthly fees and no transaction fees until you reach a certain amount of pledges. You can learn more about all of their pricing options here.

Reviews

One CauseVox user who raised over $10K for Breast Cancer Action in 2014 left a 5 star review on CrowdsUnite, saying:

Causevox is a crowdfunding platform, but unlike those all-so-popular platforms we visit to fund a clever little smartwatch or artisanal logs. Causevox’s focus skews much more donation-based than product funding. Therefor all money goes directly to the charity of my choice thanks to Causevox’s Paypal and Stripe integration.

On top of its wonderful donation system, Causevox’s organizational tools are extremely intuitive. I’ve been able to organize and direct 60 participants and their accounts with ease. I specifically looked for platforms that could handle the task of housing so many people and this was the very best option out there.”

The only thing this user wished at the time was that they could have had more control with CSS or HTML. Another fundraiser who left a review on Software Advice in March 2015 said that they liked the service overall, but were hoping for more features in the future. They noted:

“We deviated from Causevox one year and regretted it. This company offers the very best product and service for the cost.”

One of our readers also reached out to us with his CauseVox experience. George Basch, creator of the Himalayan Stove Project (which has raised over $106K), shared:

We have been using CauseVox, and are very satisfied with the flexibility of their system. It suits our needs, and is easy for us to use/set up, and also easy for our supporters to set up and promote their own campaigns (as subsidiary to ours), and we’re quite familiar with it (having spent time learning it). We’re fundamentally VERY HAPPY with them.”

At one point it was brought to Basch’s attention that their CauseVox page was not mobile-friendly. Since this was an important feature to them, they reached out to the CauseVox team for help and started to consider other platforms. They recently gave us an update:

“We described the problem to them, and they took immediate and constructive action and fixed it. They get 5 Stars from us for customer service and responsiveness.”

A quick look at their page on my smartphone confirms it – the campaign’s mobile page is easy to read and displays all of the important information that backers need.

Conclusion

CauseVox has so far proven themselves as a leader in the peer-to-peer online fundraising space. They may not be as well-known as GoFundMe, but the majority of CauseVox experiences seem to be positive ones.

This platform also has a level of flexibility (in features and pricing) that trumps most new crowdfunding platforms out there. CauseVox seems to be very responsive in noticing what their users want and taking the time to incorporate those features into their service.
