Top 8 Kickstarter Campaigns of 2020

Are you thinking about running a campaign on Kickstarter?

Are you looking to invest in startup companies that show promise?

Whether you are an entrepreneur or a backer, it’s important to know what makes certain Kickstarter campaigns stand out amongst the crowd.

That’s why I’ve assembled this list of the Top 8 Kickstarter campaigns of 2020—to give you a better idea of what trends well and raises the most money on the site.

There are so many great projects on Kickstarter, and you should feel free to explore them all, but I wanted to highlight some of the top projects of 2020.

So, let’s get started!

Terraplanter

The project that has raised the most money on Kickstarter in 2020 to date is Terraplanter—so I had to put it first on my list.

After all, the project has raised almost $6.4 million. This is a huge total; one that capitalized on a plant obsessed society.

Nevertheless, Terraplanter sought to reimagine the centuries old planter through natural materials, plants, and ecological products to create a user-friendly experience for plants to thrive indoors.

With a $20,000 original goal, Terraplanter has blown past all expectations. You can get more information by visiting their website to get a better idea of the functionality of the product.

OYO NOVA Gym

Billed as an entire gym in your hands, OYO NOVA gym is the most funded fitness product in the history of Kickstarter.

The campaign brought in over $4.4 million from 26,200 backers—shattering their original $30,000 goal.

The OYO Nova Gym is a heavy duty, high resistance, portable gym that provides total body strength training at home, in the office, or on the go. It can provide up to 40 pounds of resistance, while only weighing 2.5 pounds itself.

With more people working out at home than ever due to the coronavirus outbreak, OYO Nova Gym is certainly filling a required niche right now. So if you’re looking to get in shape, go invest and grab one yourself!

Mendi: Real Brain Training

Mendi is a headset and app that raised over $2 million from 6,700 backers.

The app seeks to strengthen your brain for improved mental well-being, performance, and overall health.

Due to the success of the app, Mendi has kept the momentum of its campaign alive on Indiegogo Indemand, a very common practice for successful Kickstarter campaigns.

As society continues to grow increasingly aware about the importance of mental health, the Mendi app is capitalizing as one of the top tech products available on Kickstarter in 2020.

SuperCalla

Most of us are addicted to our smart technology.

And what are our addictions without a set of cords to fuel them? Supercalla is a set of redesigned charging cables that use magnetic placeholders to keep your cord from tangling.

The product raised over $1.7 million from almost 40,000 backers. Who knew that people were so fed up with tangly chargers?

With a modest $10,000 original goal, it’s hard to imagine the team at Supercalla could have envisioned such success over a product that isn’t so much revolutionary as it is handy.

With five connection types and two colors, everyone can get the charger they need without the stress of entanglement.

Orba

It’s not often that a new musical instrument is brought into the world. But Artiphon has done just that in designing the Orba; a portable synth, looper, and MIDI controller that lets you create songs in seconds.

Nearly 13,000 backers pumped almost $1.5 million into the campaign, enabling music-lovers everywhere to translate gestures from their fingers directly into sound without any musical experience.

Some of the awesome features of Orba include:

  • The ability to create your own drum beats
  • Adding bass lines through sliding pads
  • Strum a chord with the touch of one finger
  • Creation of melodies that are already in tune
  • Make effects by waving, tilting, spinning, and more

Are you the next Kanye West or DJ Khaled? While Orba might not make you the next great music producer; it’s certainly a cool little gadget to start with.

iiRcade

I couldn’t go through the whole list without including some awesome gaming.

And iiRcade is close to the heart, because I worked on the campaign myself. It ended up raising over $660,000 from 1,500 backers.

iiRcade is an immersive arcade gaming experience reinvented for your home. With over 200+ retro games available in either a bartop or full-sized arcade setup, iiRcade has excited gamers across the world.

The arcade system also announced a recent partnership with Sega, further bolstering their giant catalogue of games.

It’s cool to see old technology revived in a new and exciting way. If you’re impressed by iiRcade’s campaign and would like to launch one yourself, schedule a one-on-one coaching call with me to talk about it.

MOFT Z

MOFT Z is another COVID capitalizer, making in-home and remote work feel more productive.

The product is a 4-in-1 invisible sit-stand laptop desk, which helps you to develop a healthy sit-stand working posture to keep you productive throughout the day.

Over 16,000 backers helped MOFT Z to catapult past their $10,000 goal into raising over $1.1 million dollars.

MOFT Z’s competitive advantage comes in it’s sleek design that makes the adjustment from sitting with good posture to standing easier than ever, without the need for bulky hardware.

Remote workers across the world are benefitting from MOFT Z’s intuitive technology, making it one of the standouts on Kickstarter in 2020.

FOLDEAT

FOLDEAT is a modular lunchbox that unfolds into an eating mat, making packing and eating on the go easier than ever.

While many school-aged children may have to wait until 2021 to try out their awesome new lunchbox, backpackers and commuting eaters are pumped about this product.

Almost 12,000 backers helped FOLDEAT to raise $1.35 million, shattering their original $10,000 goal. With dip containers, magnetic cutlery holders, and an unfolding insulated eating mat, FOLDEAT thought of everything; making it a stand-out in Kickstarter’s Food and Craft category in 2020.

Conclusion

There are a ton of reasons and factors that certain Kickstarter campaigns might take off. And to be honest, it can be difficult to forecast.

But these products all have some things in common: they fulfill a need, they’re priced right, and they’re marketed well.
