Fundraising online for a nonprofit initiative or cause has a lot of moving parts. Thankfully, there are some awesome experts out there who are willing to share what works and what doesn’t.
I’ve compiled a list of some of the top blogs out there on online fundraising. Some of these are smaller websites run by individuals, others are larger publications. If you think we should add one to this list, let me know via comment!
1. TheFundraisingAuthority
The Fundraising Authority has a wealth of information about how to run a successful nonprofit fundraising campaign. The blog also has an accompanying podcast. Joe Garecht started this website and has over a decade of experience in the industry.
2. Fundraising123
“Reach your fundraising goals with our library of expert advice, donor communication tips, and nonprofit marketing resources.”
This website includes tips on social media outreach, managing donors, storytelling, running events, and more. There is a good overview of their fundraising index here.
3. npEngage
This site includes regular blog articles on marketing, fundraising, and how to manage a nonprofit. They also have industry reports, webinars, and an accompanying magazine.
“npENGAGE is the premier nonprofit resource for trends, best practices, and need-to-know news.”
4. Nonprofit Tech for Good
Nonprofit Tech for Good covers a variety of topics including fundraising, social media, mobile media, and more. They post regular blog articles, host webinars, and have a few different books out.
“With 100,000 monthly visitors and more than one million followers on social networks, Nonprofit Tech for Good is a leading social and mobile media resource for nonprofit professionals.”
I’ve put together a new GUIDE that’s packed with science-backed nonprofit fundraising methods, resources, strategies, and killer marketing methods.
You should check it out if you want to get more donations and you want to fast-track the entire process.
5. Nonprofit Hub
“Nonprofit Hub is dedicated to empowering nonprofit organizations by creating the world’s best library of high-quality content.”
One thing I like about this site is that it contains blog posts written by the company and also articles “around the web” that you might be interested in. Some categories include donor retention, marketing, and branding.
6. Nonprofit Quarterly
If you’re in the industry, I’m sure you’ve heard of Nonprofit Quarterly. The only reason that I didn’t include them first is because I think they have more of an emphasis on news and trends rather than fundraising tips.
“NPQ was launched as a national print journal in the winter of 1999 and was designed to fill a gap by providing credible, research based articles for nonprofits about management and governance.”
7. Nonprofit Expert
Although it appears that Nonprofit Expert is more of a static website than a blog that posts regular articles, I think the database of knowledge is very helpful!
“Free resources for nonprofits of all types and sizes! Providing tools, guides and advice to nonprofits since 1998”
8. Fundraising Coach
“An international leadership coach and fundraising trainer, Marc A. Pitman helps nonprofit board members and staff get excited about asking for money.”
The blog posts regular articles on tips to improve your fundraising results. The site also has a “university” section and offers executive coaching.
I’ve put together a new GUIDE that’s packed with science-backed nonprofit fundraising methods, resources, strategies, and killer marketing methods.
You should check it out if you want to get more donations and you want to fast-track the entire process.
